Scott Goodhill

I'm away from Speysound now for a while whilst I continue my studies. If the opportunity arises I'd love to come back occasionally with a few guest appearances.
Shirley Bateman

Shirley joined Speysound by accident in 1993.
She came as a guest to the Tuesday Chat, then hosted by Fred Neck, to talk about a childrens drama group, the Vagabonds which she ran throughout the nineties. She then turned her acting talents to the radio and has been a presenter, with a few gaps, ever since.
When not broadcasting Shirley works for the charity Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland as their local co-ordinator, and can often be seen racing around fields over all sorts of obstacles with her agility dogs Pippin and Cassie.

Sheila Mackay

Joined Speysound in August 2011.
Born and brought up on the Island of Harris, married to John who hails from Skye, we have lived in Newtonmore since 1977. I am a native Gaelic speaker (Gaelic being my first language!). I have been involved with Gaelic media, both TV and Radio, over the years. I am a nurse working in our little cottage hospital in Kingussie. I enjoy, and listen to, a variety of music although I tend to favour Gaelic and Scottish dance music having grown up listening to that when I was not tuned in to Radio Luxembourg! I hope listeners will tune in and enjoy "Ceilidh in the Park" (Ceilidh 's a Pháirc) on Thursdays from 6 to 7pm.

Colin Shaw

Hi, I am Colin and have been with Speysound since 1993, but am currently taking a break from broadcasting. I hope to return soon... so, watch this space.
Helen Cook

I am the Minister in Kingussie Parish Church, married to Bill, with two grown up daughters, a dog and a cat. When I was younger I looked like the Vicar of Dibley, and once I was mistaken for her at the Chelsea Flower Show! I was employed as an on-air counsellor for the Open Line Show on Radio Forth in Edinburgh, listening to callers' problems and trying to offer advice and sympathy. We came to live in Badenoch and Strathspey over 20 years ago and, around the year 2000, along with several other presenters I produced "The Bridge", a religious programme on a Sunday evening. But I wanted a change, so in 2009 I moved to Wednesday evenings with "Community Rodeo".
Pete Carson

After many few years at MFR on a Sunday evening and a few at Speysound Radio - with Pete's Beat and The Tuesday Twaddle - I left 2 years ago due to moving away to work up in Helmsdale, Sutherland. I am now back working in the area and happy to get back involved with Speysound. I retired after 25 years with Northern Police and am now working for a charity called Health and Happiness, as Community Connector for Badenoch & Strathspey. I live in Carrbridge with Donna and have music and drama as main interests. I have been involved for a few years with Grantown Players.
Malky Taylor

I worked as a policeman in Aviemore, a job I did and enjoyed for almost 30 years. Got into Speysound a couple of years ago after being interviewed with regards my other hobby, amateur dramatics, where I have met some great people and found some great friends and boy!! do we have fun, have a look at www.showboaters.co.uk. to see what we get up to. Now I broadcast on a Sunday night from 7- 10pm playing something for everyone.
Douglas Bertram

Douglas studied French horn and piano at the Royal college of music in London, and went on to play horn in the Reid orchestra and the semi-professional orchestra run by Edinburgh university. Douglas was also the founder of the Edinburgh wind quartet giving concerts from Lerwick to Newton Stewart. Now presenting his classics for pleasure show on a Thursday night, he includes works by lesser known composers
Grant Gallagher

Been with Speysound since 2000 and currently presenting Sunday Breakfast from 8.00am - 10.00am.
Musical favourites range from U2 to Iron Maiden with a whole lot of goodies in between. Hobbies include, photography, travel, and concert going.
I work for a local authority as Sport and Leisure Supervisor, a job I thoroughly enjoy and find very rewarding.
Favourite Quote :- You are what you eat, but I have never ate a legend

Donald MacGregor

Happily retired from 36 years of Physics teaching, I'm now well over 630 programmes of Folk 'n' That since a nervous start back in '97 (?). The aim each Wednesday is to include new and topical folk material ensuring the presence of big and small and uillean pipes, good guitar, gaelic song, male/ female/ group song and instrumental - mainly Scots and Irish but lots of other stuff too! ....and the " 'n' That " bit gives a bit of licence to get away with anything else I fancy which I trust you'll enjoy. That pattern is gladly broken when there are recorded concerts to bring or live studio guests - I've even been known to sing and play on air myself! Oh Dear!
Alison Mair

Hi I am Alison Mair, I have a programme on SPeysound radio every second Friday between 7 and 9pm called Alison's Allsorts.
The music I play varies: I love 60s, 70s, 80s, etc., Reggae, Rock, Clubland and chart... Oh and a wee bit of country thrown in now and again. As 80s was my era I must admit I quite often do 2 hours of total 80s.
I was born in Elgin and moved to Aviemore in 1975. I worked most of my years at the BP Garage in Aviemore until it was closed down around 2006; I then went on to be manager in the local Spar in Aviemore. April 2008 was the best month for my partner Robert and I as our daughter Danika was born. I decided to give up work for a while and become a full time mummy.
I loved music from a very young age, my first 7" vinyl records that I received in a Christmas gift were Jimmy Osmand 'Long haired lover from Liverpool' and Chuck Berry 'My Ding-A-Ling' both number 1 hits in 1972. (My taste has got much better, well so I would like to think.) I spend many an hour in my bedroom with my headphones cranked up to the max and my hairbrush as my micropohne.
I was first introduced to Speysound radio in March 2001. I joined Michael Weir's programme 80s Legends on 2nd of April 2001. He taught me the desk and before I knew it I was hooked! By September I was offered to do my own programme and gladly acceped so on September 11th 2001 Alison's ALlsorts was Live on air.
Speysound radio has been great, I love every minute. WHen looking back to the days of the heaphones and the hairbrush I would never have thought I would be doing my own show on our local radio station...
Happy listening!!
